Writer Bio
Clarion Faculty Director since 2010, Professor of Ethnic Studies and Literature at UCSD. Imagining the Future of Climate Change: World-Making through Science Fiction and Activism was published by the University of California Press in January 2018. This year's Le Guin Feminist Science Fiction Fellow at the University of Oregon. Much of my recent work is built on research on the Octavia E Butler Papers at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California.

I love to do research and it shows up in everything I write.
Writing Goal
1. Finish co-edited Clarion 50th anniversary anthology
2. Put final touches on NYU Press co-edited anthology Keywords for Comics Studies, co-edited by Ramzi Fawaz and Deborah Whaley.
3. Put finishing touches on my essay "Genre" for Keywords anthology
4. Write draft of invited article, “Individual and Collective Action – Climate Action as Narrative” for Cambridge Companion on Literature and Climate
5. Revise book proposal and research plan before going to University of Oregon in September as holder of this year's Le Guin Feminist Science Fiction Fellowship
